That’s what parents do. They jump in the car and drive six hours to hug their kid. Coy Collins had a feeling after speaking with his daughter on the phone. Parents often follow their feelings and are seldom wrong. We’re not sure who was recording the video, but it shows the entire progression of this heartwarming moment.
The daughter enters her apartment with her excited dogs jumping. She speaks briefly with whoever is recording. We can see her dad waiting patiently in the kitchen to surprise her. As she turns and sees him, you almost sense her melting. Setting the mail down, she begins to move slowly across the room.
Coy opens his arms, and his daughter slides right in as he wraps his arms around her. They embrace for a while before she turns, wiping tears. Dads KNOW. There is nothing like the comforting embrace of a parent. No matter how bad the day is, that comforting embrace can wipe it away.
As a parent, you can sense when your child needs more than a few words over the phone. When Coy felt his daughter needed more, he took immediate action. That hug delivered his message of unconditional love and that he would be there for her always.
