When Dave Coulier announced he had cancer in October, it came as a shock to many. Dave wanted to come forward about his stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma to encourage others to listen to their bodies. He also hoped it would give some people the nudge they needed to have preventative cancer screenings done. He’s been open about his cancer and remained relatively optimistic. His wife, Melissa Coulier, told ABC affiliate WZYZ in Detroit that Dave’s cancer journey had been challenging.

“He has some really tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating, it gets a little tougher and more difficult,” she said.
Dave Coulier Intends To Beat Cancer
The funny man took the cancer battle head-on and decided to celebrate every day as a win. Melissa told WXYZ, “He has such a positive attitude, and you need that in order to really fight it. Every morning, if he’s feeling up for it, we try to put on a song and do a little dance party with the dogs, because when you do feel good, you have to celebrate that, too.”
Melissa shared that Dave garners strength from his family. This isn’t their first cancer battle, and they understand the ups and downs.
“I think it’s just innately in him. He has had a lot of loss in his life when it comes to having to deal with cancer. He lost his mother, his sister, his niece. His other sister had it,” Melissa explained. “I think for him, he takes every stride and really pulls strength from seeing the women that were so close in his life to powering through it, and he just wants to honor them.”
Dave Coulier has received tremendous support from friends amid his cancer battle as well. Full house co-star and dear friend John Stamos posted a pic with Dave in a bald cal in November, shortly after he went public with his cancer journey.
John wrote, “You’re handling this with so much strength and positivity—it’s inspiring. I know you’re going to get through this, and I’m proud to stand with you every step of the way. I love you.”
