One mom wasn’t able to be there for her baby’s first steps, but at least she knows that her little one was in good hands during this once-in-a-lifetime occurrence! Lauren Pontiff got to see the sweetest footage of her daughter’s special milestone, which took place while the child was at day care. What touched the mother’s heart most was the way that a staff member reacted to the small girl’s big achievement. This day care worker couldn’t have been more excited to witness the adorable baby’s first steps!

In a precious clip on social media, the woman was busy playing with one of the other kids in her care when Lauren’s daughter stood up all by herself. It took a second for the day care worker to notice what was going on, but as soon as she did, she immediately dropped everything to encourage the child. As the baby took her wobbly first steps, the caregiver started clapping her hands with excitement. She motioned for the little girl to keep walking toward her, cheering her on the whole way.
Once the baby made it to where the day care worker was waiting, the ecstatic adult scooped her up into a proud embrace. She was clearly so thrilled to be a part of this amazing moment! Even though Lauren couldn’t be there in person to hug her daughter after her first steps, she must have been so grateful that someone else stepped in.
