They say an unborn baby can hear their mother’s voice within the womb. But that is not always the case. Some children have never been able to hear a sound… or lose the connection early on, due to sickness or an accident. But that is what makes the moment in this video so special.

Taryn and Drew Ruiz gave birth to a beautiful little baby boy three months ago. By all appearances, everything was well. As the little one, called Archer, began to get used to his surroundings, Taryn and Drew noticed their new son was showing signs of acute deafness.
Soon after, the Ruiz’s were told that Archer was born with permanent moderate-to-severe bilateral hearing loss. The condition would have left Archer in a silent existence… but thanks to modern technology specialists fitted the little guy for hearing aids that day.
The Ruiz’s had to wait two long months for the earpieces to be completed, but in the video below we find Archer and his parents trying them for the first time. When the device is switched on, a slightly fussy Archer transforms from the wonder of hearing his mother’s voice for the first time.
It’s an absolutely beautiful moment. See it all unfold below.
