Dick will turn 99 in December. And after nearly a hundred years on Earth, he is still “looking for work,” or so he said after winning an award for outstanding variety extraordinary for Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, reported People.
Dick Van Dyke Wants To Be Remembered For One Thing
After the ceremony, Dick Van Dyke told the press that when people remember him, it will be because of his ability to make them laugh.
He joked that he can’t believe he’s been in the business for so long and said he is always looking for work if anyone has a job for him.
He added that he had some advice for those just breaking into the business.
“You have to stick with it. You’re gonna go through hard times and a lot of auditions … but you have to stay with it. Be patient if you’ve got the confidence in yourself, and it’s very important to believe that you can do it.”
Dick told People that he’d love to do a one-person show to help some up his impressive career.
“I was thinking of doing — 80 years in the business. I have a lot of stories to tell. I thought I’d just do a one-man show, like this,” he said. “Just sit and talk to the audience.”
The 2024 Creative Arts Emmys will air on September 14 at 8 p.m. EST on FXX.
