In order to get the best view of the fish with her camera, the diver set it down on a reef. Once it was secure, she swam away and let nature do its thing! Camille’s GoPro captured tons of fascinating footage of different types of fish swimming by. A few stopped to inspect the camera, curious as to what it might be. Others completely ignored the device.

That was a close call 😮‍💨 ⚠️ only set up your camera on sand, rocks or dead corals to protect the reef 🪸🐠🧡 Tell me the fish are not the cutest ever when they are inspecting the camera or even just passing by living their little life on the reef 🥹🐠🪸 Watching this makes me feel like I’m in Nemo, and sometimes I just wish I was a fish living on a healthy reef 🐠 (until I see how crazy the sharks are during night snorkeling and then I don’t want to be a fish 😅) #oceantok #snorkelguide #maldives #reeffish #snorkeling #snorkelling #snorkeling🐠 #snorkelling🐠 #marinebiology #marineconservation #marinelife #oceanlover #oceanlovers #oceanaddict #oceanaddicts #reefaddict #girlsthatfreedive

“My new passion is leaving my GoPro on the reef to see what the fish do when no one’s watching,” Camille wrote in her post.

Unfortunately, at some point, another person spotted the unattended GoPro in the water. Thinking someone must have dropped it, he picked it up. Camille quickly rushed over to explain that she’d left it there on purpose. For a moment, the diver worried that the man would think she was lying about it being her camera. However, he thankfully returned the device to her.

“That was a close call,” she wrote in her caption.

Despite the small hangup at the end of the video, Camille was really happy with how her underwater footage turned out.

Camille shared some conservation tips for fellow photographers, too.

“Only set up your camera on sand, rocks, or dead corals to protect the reef,” the diver warned.

Thanks for the advice, Camille! We’re so glad you’re sticking up for these beautiful fish and their habitat.
