When food is recalled, it’s always important to make sure you don’t have any of the affected products in your home. With this in mind, we have somber news: It’s been declared that two people have died after getting sick from plant-based milk. The products, it turns out, contain listeriosis, which can be deadly at times. As a result, a recall has been made on these affected Silk and Great Value Products.
The products on this recall list were distributed in Canada. As of the writing of this article, there have been 12 confirmed cases of Listeria as a result of these products. Ten are from folks in Ontario while the other two are in Quebec and Nova Scotia. It’s said that illnesses have taken place between August 2023 and early July 2024.
Each affected product is a plant-based milk. Below, you’ll find a two lists of the products affected. Firstly, we’ll cover those under the brand Silk. Each of the products include best-by dates up to 24 OC 04.

So, if you or someone you love may have consumed any of these products, please stay aware of any potential symptoms. While Listeria can be mild, it can be deadly, especially for those who are pregnant, elderly, or have a weak immune system.
