There are so many benefits to hiking. For one, it’s a great way to spend time outdoors, something that has proven to be good for our mental health. Then there’s our physical health, too. Even those of us who are not so athletically inclined can find trails more fitting for our level. Plus, have you ever stopped to experience the beauty of nature!? And yet, despite these pros, going on a hike can be… a lot, as Poe the dog knows.

Poe is a 1-year-old English Springer Spaniel. And while he loves appreciates the outdoors (like just about every other pup) he’s not the biggest fan. For example, a dog named Bryce once completed a 14-mile trek with a giant stick in his mouth, all with the hope of bringing it home. Poe, on the other hand, would likely not do something like that. He would, however, take a break in the middle of a hike. In fact, he does so often, as seen in the adorable video below.

This is far from the first time that Poe has done something like this during a hike. In fact, it’s happened so many times at this point, it’s clear that he has a preference when it comes to his resting spots. Not just any pile of leaves or a giant log will do — he simply must lay down in a creek.

We can learn a lot from Poe, honestly. We don’t need to be the most athletic people to appreciate nature or hiking. It doesn’t matter our methods or number of breaks. What does matter, though, is that we’re having a good time, something that is clearly true for this adorable dog!
