Imagine you’re a dog, and your mom picked up a super cool stick while the two of you were walking together. Instead of handing it over, though, she continues to hold onto it. You’re probably thinking that she’s just saving it to play fetch with you later, right? So, you don’t say anything. That is, until you see that same cool stick hanging on the wall of the bathroom as a DIY art piece. Oh, the betrayal!

As you may have guessed, this isn’t a hypothetical situation. According to a dog mom on social media, she and her pooch are having a bit of a disagreement over an awesome stick that they found during one of their walks. She thought that it would make a beautiful piece of decor to hang in her bathroom. However, judging by some hilarious footage the pet parent shared online, Basil the Labrador doesn’t approve!
In the clip, the dog was sitting on the bathroom floor, staring up at the stick on the wall and whining piteously. He seemed really upset that Mom had turned the item into art instead of letting him play with it!
“I made a wall hanging with a stick I found on Basil’s dog walk,” the pooch’s owner wrote in her caption. “Basil loves this stick and thinks it’s his. Basil has been crying at the wall hanging for 20 minutes.”
Two million people have seen this video, and almost everyone in the comments section agreed with the indignant Lab.
“Petition to give Basil his stick back,” joked one user.
Another added, “That is HIS STICK MADAM HOW DARE YOU.”
“Clearly you did not get Basil’s permission to use his stick in that manner and he wants it back now,” a third said.
Unfortunately, as a dog, Basil probably won’t be able to get a lawyer to defend his claim on the stick. We’ll just have to hope that Mom decides to do the right thing.
