The weather outside was delightful, and Rosie’s Mom wanted to relax on their deck to begin the day. However, Rosie the Golden had a different idea. The large dog decided that peaceful morning activities were out and frenetic random activity periods (FRAPs) were in. We hear you tilting your head and muttering, “FRAPs?” Yes, FRAPs, also known as golden retriever zoomies.

For golden retriever owners, watching the zoomies becomes a special part of almost every day. The energetic dogs have their unique way of expressing joy. Rosie darts out in a zoomie mood when her mom opens the door. Frank, the family’s Maine coon cat, looks on, unamused by his sister’s antics.
Frenetic random activity periods can happen at any time for any reason. Zoomies are most frequently associated with a dog’s level of comfort and energy. When a dog stores energy, it bursts forth at random times. Zoomies may happen more often if a dog is happy and comfortable in its environment. If their TikTok page is an indicator, Rosie is a very happy, happy dog.
Our extensive research shows that Rosie, the golden retriever, spends roughly half of every day in zoomie mode. That’s a lot of zoom-zooming! OK, our research involved watching TikTok videos of Rosie zooming around while Frank looks on, nonplussed. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend some time, we highly recommend using our research methods to explore golden retriever zoomies.
Rosie and Frank have grown up together. While Frank often disapproves of Rosie’s behavior, the two are close. Cats have occasional zoomies, but their play is more refined and dignified.
