After being lost for six years, a dog named Rose has finally been found alive and well in the woods. However, she didn’t exactly go missing — she ran away from home shortly after being adopted by a family in the UK. Since striking out on her own, the pooch has been fending for herself. Lost Dog Recovery UK South discovered the black Patterdale terrier wandering the forest alone after receiving a call about her.

UPI tells us that Rose wasn’t completely left to her own devices, especially when it came to meals. Local residents had actually been feeding the lost dog in the woods for quite some time! Unfortunately, her previous owners are unable to take her back home. However, Lost Dog Recovery UK South wrote a lengthy Facebook post about the pooch, stating that she would be moving into Last Chance Animal Rescue in Edinburgh. Apparently there are plenty of potential pet parents who are dying to adopt Rose as soon as possible!
“ROSE can only have one family so we realise there will be many disappointed folk who have so generously offered to give her a safe, warm and loving home,” wrote the animal rescue organization. “If you aren’t successful in your application for Rose PLEASE do consider fostering for your local rescue.”
We’re so grateful for organizations like the one that found this lost dog walking around the woods. Here’s another case where animal rescuers really came through for a missing pooch!
