Dolly Parton’s beloved husband, Carl Dean, passed away on March 3 at age 82. Though Carl liked to live his life out of the limelight, he and Dolly shared a loving marriage for 58 years. The singer announced her husband’s death in an Instagram post.

After Carl’s death, friends, family, and fans gave kind words and condolences to the country superstar. Millions around the world adore Dolly. Learning their favorite blonde bombshell’s heart was hurting brought many of them together. Dolly Parton felt the love and took to Instagram on March 6 to say thank you for all of the love thrown her way in the days since her husband died.
Dolly wrote, “This is a love note to family, friends, and fans. Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers that you’ve sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl,” she shared. “I can’t reach out personally to each of you but just know it has meant the world to me.””

At the end of her post, Dolly Parton wrote of he husband, “He is in God’s arms now and I am okay with that. I will always love you.” A nod to her song made famous by Whitney Houston.
A fan wrote, “You are in my prayers, Dolly. You always are. But now you REALLY are. I’m thinking about you and I have you in my heart. I hope our love lifts you up somehow.”
Another shared, “Storms make trees take deeper roots… your words have comforted so many. Love you always, beautiful soul!”
According to his wife, Carl will be laid to rest in a private ceremony.
