Dolly Parton Said She Is “Crazy” About Taylor Swift

The 78-year-old told E! News that she admires Taylor’s career and what she’s accomplished. “She’s such a great artist and songwriter,” Dolly said.

The country star didn’t shy away from talking about Taylor’s very famous other half.

“And then their little love affair,” Dolly said, “I’m thinking people love romance.”

If there is anyone Taylor Swift should seek relationship advice from, it would be Dolly Parton. She met her husband, Carl Dean, outside the Wishy Washy laundromat in Nashville in 1964 and has been married for 58 years.

“I’d come to Nashville with dirty clothes,” Dolly told the New York Times in 1976. “I was in such a hurry to get here — and after I’d put my clothes in the machine, I started walkin’ down the street, just lookin’ at my new home, and this guy hollered at me, and I waved. Bein’ from the country, I spoke to everybody. And he came over and, well, it was Carl, my husband.”

Carl isn’t much for the spotlight. But he’s never thwarted his wife’s career. And it seems Taylor Swift is a big fan of Dolly Parton. She told Billboard in 2011,

“There’s so much about Dolly Parton that every female artist should look to, whether it’s reading her quotes or reading her interviews or going to one of her live shows,” Taylor said. “She’s been such an amazing example to every female songwriter out there.”
