Stella Parton shared the heartbreaking news that her and Dolly Parton’s brother, David Wilburn Parton, passed away on November 15 at age 82.

“My brother David passed away peacefully this morning,” she wrote on X shortly after his death. “It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loved one. But he got his angel wings and is now at peace.”

Stella also took to Facebook, saying, “It’s never easy to lose a loved one,” and later thanked fans for their outpouring of love, adding, “…we continue to grieve the loss of our much loved and cherished oldest brother David.”
The 75-year-old posted a tribute on Threads, as well, writing, “My brother David left us this morning. He finally got his angel wings. RIP dear soul. Love you forever.”
David Parton Was One Of Dolly’s 11 Siblings
David Parton was the second oldest of Dolly Parton’s 11 brothers and sisters, which include Willadeene, 84, Coy, 81, Dolly, Robert Jr., 76, Stella, Cassie, 73, Freida, 67, and Rachel, 65. Dolly’s brothers Floyd, Larry, and Randy have also passed.
The former bridge builder superintendent is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton; daughters, Donna Parton and Dena (Tommy) Lane; a “nephew/son,” Lucas Townsend; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
An obituary shares that David will be buried on November 19 near his home in White Pines, Tennessee. His family has not shared his cause of death.
