On October 31, the singer-turned-talkshow-host pulled out all the stops while celebrating All Hallows Eve. The entire set transformed into the world of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is the much-loved sequel to the legendary 1988 horror-comedy flick Beetlejuice. And Kelly looked unrecognizable as “the ghost with the most.”
While the entire episode was filled with hilarious and ghoulish surprises, viewers were most impressed with the traditional Kellyoke opener. As fans know, Kelly Clarkson covers one of her favorite songs during each show. And on Halloween, she sang Harry Belafonte’s Banana Boat (Day-O) in honor of the spooky theme.
But Kelly didn’t just sing the song—the Grammy winner and her house band got into character and created their own rendition of the iconic possession scene.
After That Amazing Halloween Kellyoke Performance, Fans Want To See Kelly Clarkson On Broadway
The musicians dressed as the friendly ghost, Adam Maitland; the shrunken-head specter, Bob; the ghost detective Wolf Jackson; the deceased football player; and the famous Lydia Deetz. The phantoms gathered around Beetlejuice’s grave and sang along as Kelly rose from the grave and put on a hilarious and award-worthy performance.
“Did we just witness Kelly’s Broadway musical audition?” a starstruck fan wrote under a video of the Kellyoke on Youtube.
“And she says she can’t act…that was so good! She has to host SNL asap,” wrote another.
“She can sing everything I’m dead !” someone gushed. “What a queen!”
Kelly Clarkson and her band weren’t the only ones who got into the holiday spirit for the Halloween episode. The entire audience dressed as characters from the Beetlejuice underworld, and guests Reba McEntire and Rex Linn sat for their interviews as Catherine O’Hara’s Delia Deets from the original film and Danny DeVito’s Janitor from the sequel.
