Ducklings Take Their First Swim In A Watermelon In This Precious Annual Tradition

Ducklings swimming in a watermelon is an annual tradition at The Quack House.

Krissy Ellis is a famous duck mom because her duck Munchkin loved iced water from Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, and other fast-food outlets. The Dunkin’ Duck got many of us through some rocky periods in our lives. Krissy has several other ducks at “The Quack House.” Today, we’re looking at a cute tradition they perform with baby ducklings taking their first swim in a watermelon rind.

It begins with hollowing out a watermelon for the pool. Of course, this means that the ducks get a special treat because they love watermelon. It was a little chilly this year, so Krissy brought the little watermelon pool inside for the ducklings. Although Kiwi hogged the watermelon at first, the other two eventually got a chance to swim.

The watermelon swim is an annual tradition Krissy does with all her ducklings. Life at The Quack House is busy, but there is always time for fun. Krissy wrote a book on it to let everyone know how to raise happy ducks. Sadly, Munchkin passed away on April 1, 2024, but she left behind a huge family, and they all seem to love icy, fruity drinks. You can view a tribute reel about Munchkin on TikTok.

Krissy treats her ducks like they are her children. They dress for Halloween, volunteer at the Valentine’s Day Kissing Booth, settle sibling disputes, and so on. For Christmas, Krissy got a super surprise of her own.

In between letting her ducklings swim in watermelon, the Duck Mom got a surprise of her own as Duck Dad proposed.
