One elderly man was moved to tears when everyone in Cracker Barrel sang to him on his 89th birthday. Author V.A. Sanchez captured a touching video of the sweet moment, which she posted on social media. However, she had absolutely no idea just how many people would watch it. This clip now has over five million views online as well as thousands of comments!

The author was blown away by the response her footage of the elderly man received. She really wanted him to know all the kind things people were saying on her social media post. So, she decided to track him down!
In an update video, this woman returned to the Cracker Barrel where the man had celebrated his birthday. After talking to a server, she found out that he was a regular customer. She asked the other woman to text her the next time he came to the restaurant.
V.A. Sanchez shared another installment of this sweet story when she finally received the message she’d been waiting for. Richard, or “Grandpa Barrel,” as she’d been affectionately calling the elderly man, had been spotted. So, the author made her way over to the restaurant with a special gift: a greeting card and some tea.
When the woman arrived, the elderly man was eating with his daughter. V.A. Sanchez told the pair about her viral video and how many people were sending love to Richard for his birthday. Unfortunately, the man has Alzheimer’s, so he was a bit confused by the situation. However, he still smiled and thanked the woman. He also received another sweet hug!
According to V.A. Sanchez, lots of commenters had been asking her if there was any way that they could do something for Richard. So, the woman decided to set up a GoFundMe page where they could donate! In one of her videos, she explained that all of the money would go “100% towards Richard and his family.”
