Not only is his new song incredible, but it’s also helping out his home state. Eric Church released his new single Darkest Hour. Then, he pledged all the profits to help those affected by the floods in North Carolina.

“Darkest Hour” Helps Shine A Light

PEOPLE shared that the country star released Darkest Hour on October 4. He admitted in a press release that he would “sign over all publishing royalties from the song to the people of North Carolina.” Many in the state are suffering due to floods caused by Hurricane Helene, so this generous offering from Eric Church could help thousands of people.

The song’s lyrics strike a sorrowful cord. Some of the lyrics read, “In your darkest hour, baby I’d come runnin/ In your darkest hour, I’d light your way / Baby don’t give up, I’d do anything in my power to take another minute off your darkest hour.”

Eric Church Helps North Carolina Amid Floods

Eric Church revealed the meaning behind the track. He spoke about the various areas affected by Hurricane Helene. He said, “From Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, Upstate South Carolina, parts of Georgia, and even Florida which took a direct hit, there are so many places that were impacted. Specifically in the area that I’m from, the mountains of Western North Carolina were devastated. There are places that are just biblically gone.”

Eric also mentioned that those people “are our family members. They’re our friends.” He added that he had been “trying some different things and exploring creativity.” Eric Church wanted to help, and he sure did. He shared that the song struck a chord with him regarding this specific event because many of those affected “are in their darkest hour.” He continued, “And they need people to come running.”

Hopefully, this song inspires many more to come running and help all of those in North Carolina, and other states, who have been affected.
