One adorable retriever puppy in Florida was born anything but golden — in fact, this little pooch came out lime green! Affectionately named Shamrock, the dog has gone viral online for her unique coloring. Carole DeBruler, who owns Golden Treasures Kennel, shared a video of the green puppy next to her golden siblings. This footage is almost surreal!

Sadly, Shamrock’s unique key lime coat isn’t permanent. According to UPI, the puppy’s fur was temporarily dyed green by biliverdin, a type of bile that can occur in a dog’s womb. While it’s not incredibly common, this phenomenon has occurred before.
CBS Miami tells us that the adorable golden retriever puppy is now over six weeks old and no longer green. In fact, it’s pretty hard to tell her apart from her siblings at this point. Still, at least we have video evidence that the pooch was once an unusual shade of key lime green. Plus, her adorable name serves as a reminder, too!
This puppy isn’t green anymore, but she’s still cute!
Golden Treasures Kennel has been sharing the most adorable updates about Shamrock and her siblings on TikTok. Here’s a clip of the golden retriever puppies playing together that’s sure to melt your heart!
Some commenters were disappointed that the green puppy was nowhere to be seen in the video. However, Golden Treasures Kennel assured everyone that Shamrock was there having a great time with the other dogs!
“She is there. She has the lime green collar,” they wrote in their comment. “The pups are almost six weeks old, and her green has almost faded.”
It’s so sweet that Shamrock’s owners found another way to commemorate the golden retriever puppy’s unusual green color at birth! We hope this adorable pooch eventually goes to a great home.
