Dove, with the help of a forensic artist, invited volunteers to partake in a special experiment. At the end of it, both the participants and audience were left with a lot to think about.

The company teamed with an FBI-trained forensic artist named Gil Zamora. While the artist sat on his stool, volunteers would sit on the other side of a curtain. He couldn’t see them, only hear their voices. He didn’t even watch them leave.
The volunteers were each asked to describe themselves in detail. It was hard to miss how many of themselves pointed out their various flaws. Whether it was the freckles they developed over time or their chin size, the ladies didn’t miss a thing.

But then, something unexpected happened.
The volunteers and a few others were asked to describe someone else. They spent a bit of time with that person and got to know them. The volunteers gave a forensic artist a description of the person.
What none of them realized until the reveal was that the artist was doing two sketches. The first was how they saw themselves.

The second? How someone else, a total stranger, saw them.

The difference between how the women described themselves and what others saw of them was amazing. Even moving.
We’re often hard on ourselves, especially our looks. But this experiment kind of proved that you’re often more beautiful than you realize.
