Fossil Hunting: Beachcomber Discovers Prehistoric Remnants On Freshly-Dredged Beach

Image shows a petrified horse tooth fossil, possibly from an Ice Age Equus, nestled among rocks on a beach.

Geezy is a fossil hunter who publishes content on social media. During a recent beach excursion, they turned up some incredible beach fossils. When a beach needs “refreshing,” sand and gravel are dredged from the water and pulled onto the beach. When that happens, the “new” beach can yield things left under the ocean for millennia. Geezy thinks they found a tooth, possibly from an ancient horse from the Equus family.

The Equus horse is a prehistoric animal related to donkeys and zebras. Several arms of this family tree have suffered extinction. Geezy thinks the petrified tooth might be from a member of the genus. Commenters under the video have different opinions, with many believing it is an ordinary cow tooth.

Without being a paleontologist, it can be difficult to tell one animal molar from another. Geezy finds other teeth, including what might be an old bison tooth and another horse tooth from the Ice Age. Finding items from the Ice Age is not new to Geezy, but always exciting, as they discover another possible Equus tooth during an earlier excursion.

Since we have no bio information for Geezy, we can’t attest to their level of expertise. However, we can say that they are fond of beach fossil hunting and have excellent eyesight to spot hidden treasures among the rocks. Their page contains videos finding shark teeth, several bone fragments, and much more. If you’re stuck at home craving adventure, you can live vicariously through these videos.

Geezy often scours the beach hunting fossils with his father, who has a massive collection of display items. If you like fossils, beaches, and fabulous finds, give Geezy a follow on TikTok. Please share this adventure with your beach fossil-hunting friends.
