Last Night Of Independence: Woman Gets Founding Fathers-Themed Bachelorette Party

According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of a bachelorette party is “a party for a woman who is about to be married usually attended by women only.” With no specifications, planning what to do at one is up to the planners. Some groups do a pub-crawl-style party. Other groups have a private party in a home or hotel room and invite a male dancer to entertain guests. They often include a lot of drinking, laughter, dancing, and hilarity. It is always a valiant attempt to show the bride a good time on her last night of “freedom” before getting married.

When you’re expecting a typical bachelorette party, it can be quite a shock when your friends pull a fast one on you. Turning back the hands of time, Mia LaPlante’s party was like history coming to life. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, a British red coat, and more characters from America’s fight for independence showed up to celebrate Mia’s last night of freedom.

The bachelorette party included dancing and laughter. Some of the costumed characters seemed lost in the wrong era. While they were on a dock, possibly re-enacting the Boston Tea Party, it looked like Honest Abe Lincoln appeared. That might be natural, since Mia included the phrase “Four score and seven years ago…” under the video description. That is a quote from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, which was also about celebrating freedom.

One thing is sure: Mia’s friends did not plan a typical bachelorette party. With all the participants in costume, there was little to hold back the merriment. The guests danced the night away before heading outside. They frolicked on a boat dock and might have re-enacted George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware.
