These two young men live in different countries and speak entirely different languages, but if nothing else, they have at least one thing in common: a love of the piano.

Spaniard Gerard Pla Daró was hanging out at the Austerlitz station several years ago when he noticed a piano just sitting there begging to be played.

Gerard happens to be an accomplished musician, so when he spots the instrument, he takes to the bench and starts playing “Una Mattina,”by Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi.
The sound stops commuters in their tracks as they turn to watch. But an Algerian named Nassim Zawsh is especially interested.

As it just so happens, he knows the song, too!
He hangs back for a while, nodding his head in appreciation of Gerard’s talents, but less than a minute later, Nassim can’t resist anymore and he joins the pianist. His addition perfectly compliments what was originally a solo performance.

It’s as if these two complete strangers aren’t strangers at all, rather, they’ve been practicing this routine for years! The performance continues and Nassim switches sides of the piano multiple times and Gerard doesn’t skip a beat. They may not speak the same language but their talents transcend words.

Before the echo of the last note has faded, the station erupts in thunderous applause as the awe-struck commuters express their appreciation. There’s almost nothing more tedious than waiting in a train station or airport terminal, but these musicians managed to make the experience magical.
If you didn’t believe it before, Gerard and Nassim are living proof that music truly is an international language. Watch their fingers fly across the piano in the video below, and remember to share to spread more smiles!
