Sometimes we all need to cut loose and break away from tradition. If you’ve ever organized a wedding, you can understand the pressure that accompanies such intense planning. One bride and her dad concocted a plan to lighten the mood and infuse a little humor into the classic father-daughter dance. Although the choreography required additional preparation, the dance itself was pure, carefree magic!

The wedding reception for Nancy and Andrew Krieger took place at Windows on the River in Cleveland on this past November 12, 2022. When Nancy and her dad, Ronald Lestock, begin the traditional dancing as “bride” and “father of the bride,” they move gracefully to the tune of “My Girl” by The Temptations. Suddenly, the song changes to “Yeah!” by Usher, featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris. Without skipping a beat, Nancy seizes the moment and busts a move in time to the music, while dad watches in apparent confusion.
But…wait a minute? Is that dad grooving right along with perfect timing? Okay, gotcha! This father-daughter dance is one for the ages.
“Everyone was shocked.” Nancy later said. “We did our rounds at all the tables after dinner and that was just the talk of the night, like ‘How long did you practice?’ So, it was a nice reaction.”
