In the woman’s clip, she was lying in bed while her partner brought her something to drink. Meanwhile, Doug sat in the doorway, waiting for Dad’s permission to enter. Once the man was finished handing off the beverage, he led the dog into the bedroom. It was finally time to get some affection from Mom! However happy this dog was to see her, though, he was extremely gentle as he approached her. There was no jumping, licking, or anything else that could jeopardize her recovery. He simply stood next to the bed and let the woman pet him!
As Mom wrote in her video, Doug did seem a bit confused by the situation. However, she added that the dog “knows to be gentle around me.” Isn’t that precious?
Doug watched over his owner all night while she recovered.
Since Doug was being so good, he got to join Mom in bed for the night. At the end of her video, the woman shared a clip of him sleeping by her feet under the covers. According to her, the pooch could tell she needed some extra support and affection, even if he didn’t know exactly why.
“Mummy’s boy always…” she wrote in her caption. “Dogs just know when something isn’t right. He eventually came in the bed with me and just slept away, but it’s like he knew he needed to be there.”
This woman is so lucky to have such a caring companion!
