Farmers will set out large, cylindrical hay bales when it is feeding time for their herds. When the resident bull saw the bale, he decided to help his lady friends by unrolling the “yellow carpet.” The bull knocked the hay bale on its side with a carefully placed headbutt. A few more nudges with his massive head and the bale unrolled.

It is good to see that chivalry is not dead in this herd. The bull did a masterful job of unrolling the entire hay bale for the cows. Nicole McCormack posted the video to show a bit about herd life. A herd is a cohesive group that works together to ensure the health of the entire herd. To avoid dominance issues, there is usually only one bull, and he is the de facto “leader” of the herd.
While we aren’t sure if this action was intentional or just rolled out that way, the bull seemed intent on the task. Many think of bulls as the wild, bucking animals we see in rodeo clips. While Nicole has a lot of rodeo clips on her TikTok page, there are also plenty that show how docile bulls can be.
Nicole’s love for these large animals is heartwarming. Although she may be very active in the rodeo circuit, she sees and shows us the softer side of bulls. Champion bull rider J.B. Mauney showed us that bulls can give as much love as they get. J.B. purchased the bull that broke his back and ended his rodeo career. The bull and J.B. now live leisurely, enjoying their retirement together.
Please share if you understand bulls better and are impressed with how they interact with humans and their herd.
