Golden Retriever Mom Pleads, “Send Help, My White Dog Found Freshly Cut Grass”

Image shows a white golden retriever after rolling in the grass turned his fur green.

White golden retrievers are absolutely beautiful dogs. Their glistening coats shine with a vibrance that befits the “golden” in their name. However, they are still golden retrievers and will still do golden retriever things. That’s what happened to this lucky guy when this happy golden retriever found some fresh-cut grass to roll in. Big hint — he is now a leprechaun retriever.

If you’ve ever mowed your grass, you know the cut grass will turn your white sneakers green. Guess what? Grass will also turn your white golden retriever green! If you let your dog out, they will roll in the fresh-cut grass. Your white dog will be sporting a custom dye job that would fit in at any St Patrick’s Day function.

Grab yourself a green beer and just shake your head. You can tell funny stories when people ask why your dog is green. Tell them you bought new green treats, and somehow the dye affected their fur, like when flamingos eat pink shrimp. You can say you tried a new dog shampoo that turned your dog green when you used the blow dryer. There are no limits to the fun you can have explaining your dog’s unnatural coloration. That is better and more entertaining than saying, “My White Dog Found Freshly Cut Grass.”

If you need your white dog white again, use pet-friendly soaps in a bath. Rubbing in a baking soda paste will pull the stain out. Then, a regular bath using your normal pet shampoo should eliminate most of the color. Whatever you do, keep the products pet-friendly. When in doubt, contact your vet. They will generally give you some tips over the phone.

Share this grass-stained golden retriever for good luck!
