It was like watching a magical moment as the small dog bounced around the field chasing the yellow butterflies. Although he thought they were food, his gentle nips missed the flying critters, leaving them to continue flitting about. The moment was captured by Ofi’s owner and shared originally on TikTok.
The little golden retriever puppy was too cute as he chased the butterflies. His little hops and jumps as he opens his mouth, trying to eat them, were the uncoordinated efforts of youth. He chased the butterflies along the edge of a clearing. His entire essence was concentrated on the hunt.
We’re not sure that young Ofi would have fared any better with lessons from his big brother. Even as an adult dog, he seems challenged by the concept of catching a treat in his mouth. His brother stares in disbelief as the treat misses the mark and bounces off Ofi’s face.
Lemon has absolutely no trouble catching things. He demonstrates with his ball.
When you have two dogs with drastically different personalities, they are going to have different strong points. Lemon seems to be the athletic one, while Ofi is the gentle lover. It doesn’t really matter if the golden retriever can’t catch butterflies. He has fun chasing them.
Golden retriever antics are always fun. Whether trying to play fetch with a delivery driver or getting the zoomies, they are a hilarious breed.
