Our friends at Merriam-Webster define a bucket list as “a list of things that one has not done before but wants to do before dying.” As people reach a certain age, they start to reflect on all the things they never had a chance to do.

That’s what inspired this grandma to take her family on a bucket list trip to Ireland. Driving down a country road, the group saw a herd of cows off in the distance. The grandma said she could call them over, but everyone was skeptical. That is, until Grandma lowered the window, let go with her cow call, and the herd came running.
The original poster, cryingonmulholland, on TikTok, was tickled to witness this magic occur. Grandma leaned out the window of the car and said, “Bwa-Caaaawh. Bwa-Caaaawh.” It wasn’t overly loud, and no one thought it would work. Three seconds later, they were gazing at a herd of cows lined up along the fence. Giggling, Grandma looked out the window and said, “Hi, girls,” like it was the most natural thing on the planet.
Perhaps it was. According to TikTok user Elissa Grove, the call originates from Norwegian cattle calling. The call is designed to echo in the mountains and was used for centuries. Although it is a lesser-known practice now, it remains remarkably effective.
On a day that could have been a hum-drum drive through the countryside, Grandma taught her family how to do an old-school cow call. Although they may never use the information, it may be helpful to someone reading this. At the very least, we hope it made you smile!
