If you haven’t watched the video yet, here’s a spoiler: Grandpa did not go to Home Depot, and Grandma’s surprise was not a screwdriver. He was so excited that he couldn’t wait to give it to her. He also wanted to remember the moment, so he invited his granddaughter, Madeline Powell, to record the moment.
Madeline set up and began recording. Grandpa got up, brought out a gift box, and handed the surprise to Grandma. She gushed when she saw the box and kept telling him he shouldn’t have gotten it before she opened the box. Grandma loved her surprise, and Grandpa leaned in for the obligatory kiss. She said, “It’s not even my birthday or anything.” At that point, Grandpa grabbed the box, saying he couldn’t wait, and opened it to reveal a smaller jewelry case.
It was a necklace similar to one she had admired recently when the couple was out together. Throughout this entire exchange, one thing is very evident: that man loves his wife immensely. He gushed about her happiness almost as much as she gushed about the necklace.
Madeline posted a follow-up video with a message to her fans from Meemaw and Poppop. They sent a thank you for all the sweet comments on the first video. Grandma wore the necklace when they went out, and Grandpa felt like a celebrity.
