When this grieving dog dad lost his beloved pet, Lucy, he vowed that he would never go through that kind of heartbreak again. That is, with one exception. According to his wife, Chelsea Belcher, the man had said, “I’ll never have another dog unless one finds me.” Then, a year later, something incredible happened.

In a beautiful video on social media, Chelsea caught the moment her grieving husband met a new dog totally by chance. They were taking a drive through a woodsy area when they spotted a stray pooch in the tall grass. This was “a year to the day” that the couple said goodbye to Lucy. If that’s not a sign, we don’t know what is!

Of course, fate had a little help from this man’s sandwich. This grieving dog dad got out of the car and began to toss bits of his snack toward the stray. Slowly but surely, the skinny animal inched forward to claim her treats. It wasn’t long before she was letting the man pet her!

Chelsea explained in her video that this footage was taken three years ago. Daisy has been a part of the family ever since!

“Happy 3 year gotcha day, Daisy,” she wrote at the end of her clip. “Thank you for finding us.”

After seeing this post, users were convinced that the grieving man’s deceased dog sent him a new best friend.

“I just know Lucy was like, ‘that one, go find that one. That’s my daddy; he will take care of you.'”

Another added, “Lucy told Daisy to be there at that exact time, she told Daisy you’d take care of her.”

This sweet dog turned out to be the perfect way to help this grieving pet owner move forward. When commenters begged for more updates about how Daisy has been doing, Chelsea responded with an adorable photo of the pup.

“She’s the queen of this house now,” she joked in her caption.

We’re so glad that another dog found this grieving man who clearly still has so much love to give!
