It might be the oldest excuse in the book, but this time it actually happened! A groom-to-be from Massachusetts went into panic mode when his dog got hold of his passport right before his destination wedding in Italy. The pup chewed up several pages of the document, making it unusable. With only a week left before Donato Frattaroli and his fiancé, Magda Mazri, were due to get on their flight, the couple was understandably stressed!

“I was pacing back and forth, not really in my right mind,” Donato told WCVB. “Luckily, Magda had her wits about her.”
Usually, it takes time to replace a passport. However, the couple reached out to the offices of U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch and U.S. Sen. Ed Markey for assistance. They scheduled an appointment, and they were hopeful when they found out there might be a way to speed up the process so that Donato could get his new document two days prior to their trip.
“We’re just really fortunate and optimistic that everything is going to work our way,” Magda said at the time. “The most important thing is that we get married.”
Thankfully, the groom’s new passport arrived without a hitch, leaving the couple free to board their flight to Italy. The wedding will take place on August 31, hopefully without any further obstacles to hinder their nuptials.
Donato wasn’t the only one who got a new passport, according to Good Morning America. His mischievous pet, a one-year-old golden retriever named Chicken Cutlet, aka “Chickie,” received a dog-friendly “pupster passport.” The adorable plushy book opens to reveal a series of travel stamps including “fire hydrant” and “Granny’s home.”
Although this new toy should keep Chickie pretty busy, Donato still says he’ll be keeping his important papers in a filing cabinet from now on!
