Has Travis Kelce Changed His Mind About Retiring From The NFL?

Travis Kelce Retire

February 9 was not a great day for Travis Kelce and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs. After winning the Super Bowl in 2023 and 2024, many thought the Chiefs would take home a three-peat in 2025. Sadly for them, that wasn’t the case.

The Philadelphia Eagles soared to victory, shutting the Chiefs out entirely in the first half. Prior to Super Bowl LIX, Travis Kelce was all smiles. When reporters asked if he planned to retire, he said, “I love doing this. I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still have a lot of good football left in me.” He seemed to be professionally and personally on top of the world. With his long-time girlfriend Taylor Swift by his side, it appeared Travis couldn’t lose. But he did, along with the rest of his team, and he felt heartbroken. Travis opened up about the loss on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce.

He said, right now, the “biggest thing” is for him to support his teammates and figure out how to move forward from the devastating loss.

Travis Kelce Will Not Talk About Whether Or Not He Plans To Retire

Travis said he knows people are dying to know his plans, but he’s not ready to talk.

“I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year, and right now, I’m just kicking everything down the road. I’m not making any crazy decisions,” Travis said.

He added that his decision to retire will not be something he ruses into: “I’m gonna take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it’s a wholehearted decision. I’m not half-assing it, and I’m fully here for them.”

Travis Kelce didn’t want to discuss whether he would retire, but he said he’s grateful for all his support. “After the game, I had my best friends and my family and my loved ones and everybody that has supported me throughout my life there to make it not feel like the worst day of my life.”
