Hate Shoveling Snow? Try This Dad’s Genius Hack!

Dad uses an innovative snow hack to remove snow from his walkways.

They say being lazy is not good, but hear me out. A lazy person will still get things done, but they will find the most straightforward way to do it. We owe countless inventions to the art of being lazy: the wheelbarrow, the hand truck, the lever and fulcrum (and seesaws, of course). If a tool makes a job more manageable, it was probably invented by a lazy person. That’s why this lazy dad’s snow hack is genius.

With the snow forecast, this dad went to work. He got busy hours before the snow was due to prepare his lazy man’s cheat. Jack McPherson’s dad is the man behind this snow hack. He started with a plastic tarp. It looks like the heavy, clear plastic used by painters. It’s an easy hack. He rolled the plastic from the porch steps and down the walkway to his house.

Once the plastic was in place, he probably weighted the corners to keep it in place. Regular bricks would work nicely. After the snow stopped, Jack’s dad started on the porch. As he pulled the plastic down, the tarp was rolling the accumulated snow down the walk. If you hate shoveling snow, this is an innovative alternative. This trick works on walkways, porches, and even vehicles.

Once you get the walks clear, you can have some fun in the snow. Another dad invented a sledding hack that is truly a lazy man’s trick. He attaches a cable to the sled and lets the child sled down the hill. To bring the sled and kid back up, he uses a drill to rewind the cable. Zero wasted energy. Tons of fun.
