Any cat owner will tell you they can be helpful animals. They lay on desks, keeping work-from-home employees company, and they can help with office chores. Elena Bianco says her calico cat, Cedar, is a government employee. Her official cat duty is notarizing the mail.

Adding her “seal” to an envelope, Cedar officially approves correspondence for Elena. Not every cat will chomp on mail, but many have peculiar “trademark” personality quirks.
As a cat owner, I can confidently attest to this fact, as two mini house panthers entertain me throughout the day. My third little panther, Salem, passed away some time ago, but he was always the most helpful. When COVID-19 hit, and everyone needed masks, we got busy sewing. He was also an expert at monitoring my Facebook activity.
None of my cats help with the mail, but Crowley does like to inspect the dishwasher and help with chores around the house. Before you ask, yes, he is the cat rendition of the Supernatural character. He is into everything and typically up to no good.
My third mini-panther is older. Her official office duties include “chair warmer” with the best chair in the office. ClaireBear is my chomper, and she is not safe around pool noodles, cardboard, or yoga mats. She is also my most intelligent cat. She has “formal job training” and will give high fives, sit, lay down, and sit pretty, but only for treats (priorities).
Elena’s cat Cedar is also a chomper who loves cardboard. That trait makes her a perfect fit as “official cat mail inspector!”
