Horse Gives Silly “How-To” On Making A Fresh Bed In His Stall

One of those most widely known facts about horses is that they sleep standing up. But did you know that’s not always the case? Sure, they do enjoy their ability to remain vertical during bedtime every once in a while. But that’s actually not how they get the most restful sleep possible. To do that, they need to lay down just like us humans. That said, they also have some preferences when it comes to what they lay on, exactly.

There are a number of comfy materials for horses to sleep on. But for the horses at Staverton Farm, wood shavings are the way to go. The humans who take care of these horses are capable of preparing their bed, of course, but it’s much more delightful to get the horses involved! In fact, in the video below, one of their horses demonstrates the perfect way to make up his bed.

At first, this sweet horse does his best to copy his human friend. But eventually, he gets a bit tired of taking things so slowly. So, similar to how a dog might behave, he rolls around in the wood shavings in order to spread them out! Usually, making the bed isn’t a very fun task, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for these beautiful creatures.

This Adorable Horse Couldn’t Be Cuter When Making His Bed with Fresh Wood Shavings

“Never in my life have I ever seen a horse make it’s bed before,” someone writes in reply to this farm’s delightful video, with another pointing out, “Ohhh it must be like when we have clean sheets.”

If you’ve never taken care of a horse, it might sound odd to choose wood shavings for their bed. However, these shavings are made to be super soft and smooth, making it comfy for them. Plus, the absorbency of the shavings also makes it the perfect material for them to use the restroom on. Needless to say, this is also a plus for their owners!
