It usually isn’t difficult to tell the difference between a horse and a dog. Although fetching a stick is commonly associated with dogs, horses will play fetch, too. Sometimes, horses find an irresistible stick, and two best friends will fight for possession.

Mr. Quackers, the darker horse, is a retired Grand Prix horse. The lighter horse, Red, is his stable mate and best friend. When the horses found a stick, they either opted to share it or are fighting over it. It is hard to tell what is occurring in the short video, but the clip raised many questions.

Do horses play “fetch?” Yes, they can learn to play fetch, although they normally don’t play with sticks. Vets and horse enthusiasts recommend large rubber balls and similar toys for horses. According to forum members at Horse & Hound, Mr. Quackers and his friend are not the only horses that will play with a stick.

According to Equus, several horse-friendly toys are preferable when available. But if your horse decides they want a stick, grab your camera and record a video! Mr. Quackers’ owner is a woman who goes by “That blond equestrian nurse” on TikTok. She shares a variety of clips with and without focusing on her horses.

When Mr. Quackers was on the show circuit, she was his rider and handler. Older show clips show the grace that earned Mr. Quackers his Grand Prix status. In the dressage world, the Grand Prix level is the highest level attainable. It may take a horse and rider many years to reach that point. His owner says she might show him in the Hunter Ring, but he’s living a leisurely retired life.

Please share this amusing horseplay schtick.
