Taylor Swift may be getting some shade from NFL fans, but she’s actually bringing a whole new crowd to football. So, some people think she deserves praise instead.

In September, Taylor and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce went public with their romance, which had been brewing behind the scenes for around two months. Once Swifties were in on the secret, the 34-year-old songstress became a regular fixture at Arrowhead Stadium, but her presence came with mixed reviews.
Taylor instantly became a media magnet at games, which pulled attention away from the field. Chiefs fans also worried that she was taking Kelce’s mind off the game—considering he’s headed to the Super Bowl on Feb. 11, we’d say that theory was proven wrong though. Former Colts head coach and Hall of Famer Tony Dungy also went on the record to say that Taylor Swift was “disenchanting” NFL fans.
Taylor Swift is Helping Fathers and Daughters Bond Over Football
What those disgruntled fans don’t seem to understand is that Taylor Swift’s new link to football is making a new generation of girls appreciate the sport. And some dads have taken X to explain how their daughters are all of a sudden tuning in each sunday.
“I actually feel bad for the Brads, Chads, and Angry Dads who spent the year complaining about Taylor Swift interrupting their football because I spent the season trading Swift/Kelce memes with my 14-year-old daughter (who previously didn’t care about football) and now it’s like a fun thing we share? Which is freaking awesome?” bragged sportswriter Kevin Van Valkenburg.
“My nine-year-old daughter couldn’t wait to watch Dolphins vs. Chiefs this past weekend because of Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce,” wrote Matt Cannata. “Then she liked it so much that she wanted to watch the Sunday playoff games. Taylor Swift is good for football & hasn’t ruined a thing about the NFL.”
“My 11-year-old daughter asked for a Chiefs jersey for Xmas,” Jamie Voorhies shared. “She wanted Mahomes in case Kelce breaks Taylor’s heart and then she’d have to burn it. We watch football every weekend together now. It’s amazing.”
To top it off, Taylor Swift has generated around $331 million in brand value for both the NFL and the Chiefs in only four months. So the argument that she’s bad for the sport doesn’t hold much ground.
