Ilona Maher’s incredible grace and strength have brought an interesting dichotomy to DWTS this season. As an athlete, she is well-versed in competition. And as a dancer, she’s proven to be a force to be reckoned with. On dedication night, Ilona danced the Rumba to an old Hollywood tune that was a throwback to the closing ceremonies of the Paris Olympic Games.

Ilona Maher Did It Her Way On “DWTS”
In 1969, Frank Sinatra gave us My Way. The song tells the story of the Chairman Of The Board and why he lived life the way he did. It’s been an anthem of sorts for those who don’t care what the world thinks. Ilona seems to be one of them. She danced the Rumba to Yseult’s cover of the iconic song, which happened to play during the 2024 Olympic Closing Ceremony, and it was simply beautiful.
Illona showed elegance and grace and took us back to a different time. The judges thought she looked and danced remarkably.
Carrie Ann Inaba shared her pride with tears in her eyes, “I’m so proud of you. You did it.” Bruno Tonioli agreed and said after last week’s lackluster performance, this was a “total redemption.” She and Alan Bernsten ended the night with 32 points.
Fans agreed and loved Ilona’s performance. One wrote, “SHE’S BACK IN THE GAME! She had hips, she had elegance, she had fluidity, she had continuity, she had the intricate details & refinement, she had it ALL! I’m so freaking proud of her it’s a 9!”
This person shared Carrie’s emotions. “I am in tears was my mother’s favorite song. Beautiful dance made me have a flashback of mom singing and playing the piano.”
Another fan cheered, “Such a vulnerable performance and she danced it with her heart and with intention, not just the steps. Her technique is getting better and her body and movement are so beautiful!”
