Wyn Starks is a singer and songwriter who grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee. He has released a few albums in the past few years, but landing an audition on “America’s Got Talent” is his biggest break to date.

Wyn decided to sing one of his original songs, a personal ballad called “Who I Am,” for this pivotal moment in his career. This song turned out to strike a perfect note with the AGT judges, particularly Sofia Vergara.

“I’m a twin and recently lost my twin brother,” Wyn explained before he started his song. “It’s been really hard. He was one of my biggest supporters, so to be here means everything to me. I’m doing this for him. I want to do this and honor him.”

All of the judges appeared sympathetic when they heard about Wyn’s late brother Kenny, but you can see from Vergara’s face that she truly empathized with him. He began to sing, and it was clear that he’s got a unique voice and is a talented songwriter. His song is tender yet passionate, and his delivery was flawless.

Judge Howie Mandel was out sick, but all of the other judges gave Wyn a standing ovation. Vergara wiped away tears as she shared why his performance had been so meaningful for her.

“That was amazing,” she said. “I’m so sorry for your loss. I know what that means. I lost my brother too, and I cannot even imagine how it is to lose a twin, because that bond has to be something unexplainable.”

Heidi Klum agreed, focusing on Wyn’s unique voice and urging producer Simon Cowell to “make this song a hit.”

“We always say every year we meet the most incredible people on this show,” said Cowell. “And now we’ve met you. Honestly, you’re brilliant, Wyn. We all saw, for obvious reasons, how emotional you were. That song, it was extraordinary. I think it was the perfect tribute to your brother, genuinely, and I think this could be a life-changing moment for you. I really hope that.”

Wyn’s song is so uplifting, especially when you hear the meaning behind it. We hope Wyn’s success will ease his heartbreak as he honors Kenny’s legacy through this beautiful song.
