In a mesmerizing time-lapse video, Emily shared the creative process behind her artwork. Her finished product was too adorable! This painting showed Pesto the baby penguin enjoying a luxurious dining experience at a waterfront table. Before him was a massive pile of pesto pasta, which he was in the middle of slurping up through his beak.
If you’re not already familiar with Pesto the penguin, this baby animal became famous on the internet for his unusual size. At six months old, this big boy already weighed an impressive 20 kilos (over 40 pounds). In footage taken at Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium, the bird’s home, it was clear that he’d already surpassed even the adults in height. Apparently, he’s the largest baby penguin this zoo has ever seen!
We love to see fanart of famous baby animals.
Emily Dunlap isn’t the first person to create an artistic tribute to this viral bird. One baker actually recreated the animal’s familiar appearance in cake form. Still, Emily’s portrait of Pesto the baby penguin eating his namesake is pretty creative. She truly has a knack for painting adorable animals! If you scroll through her social media pages, you’ll find tons of other cute critters enjoying tasty snacks in whimsical, vibrant colors. In one of her paintings, she even pictured Moo Deng, the celebrity baby hippo, in a pink bassinet surrounded by butterflies! Watch the video here.
We have to hand it to this artist: somehow, she makes the world’s cutest baby animals even cuter!
