When John Krasinski and Steve Carell starred in The Office together, their characters had a complicated relationship, to say the least. In real life, though, the two are much more supportive of each other! At least, that’s how the younger actor described a recent interaction with Carell to CBS Mornings. Krasinski recalled the special moment in a beautiful video, which has been shared to social media.

In the clip, John Krasinski revealed that he’d created a character in his new movie, IF, with Steve Carell in mind. Although he wasn’t sure if the actor would accept the role, he still imagined his former co-star’s voice while writing the dialogue. However, Carell’s reaction to the script was far better than he could have imagined!
“So he walked in, and I had this big smile,” Krasinski said. “I thought we were going to laugh. And he came up, he gave me the biggest hug, and he looked at me like a brother. And he said, ‘I just wanted to say how proud I am of you.'”
Carell added that, not only did he love the new script, but he appreciated everything that the other actor had been writing and directing.
“And I wept,” Krasinski admitted.
He also said that, since the two had worked on The Office together, they had a special bond. That’s part of why Carell’s approval carried so much weight.
“It meant the world because that’s family,” he said. “You know what I mean? That show, The Office, is family.”
It always feels good to get positive feedback, but it means so much more when it comes from someone you love and respect! We’re sure John Krasinski is thrilled to have Steve Carell voicing Blue in his new film, IF.
