John Mulaney recreated Brooke Shields’ classic Calvin Klein ad to mark his sixth time hosting SNL, and Brooke replied in kind.

John helmed the show on November 2, and for his official host photo, he posed exactly as Brooke did for her iconic 1980 ad campaign. In the original, Booke wore a flowing burgundy button-down top left open to reveal her mid-drift. She also donned dark straight-legged jeans and black boots. The former model held herself up with her arms and kicked a leg into the air as she gazed at the camera.
For John’s photo, he wore a red button-up shirt, buttoned all the way this time, along with nearly identical jeans and boots. He held himself in the same pose—and stared at the camera seductively.

When Brooke Shields saw John Mulaney’s masterpiece, she couldn’t stop laughing. So, she hilariously paid tribute to it on Instagram.
For the post, Brooke stitched her photo and his together. In the caption, she wrote, “I see no difference… I guess they can be your Calvins, too, @johnmulaney.”
Brooke wasn’t the only person who thought John’s recreation was hysterical. Tens of thousands of fans liked and commented on the photo with praise.
“His heels are higher than yours were,” a follower laughed.
“Smoldering just like Brooke,” someone else joked.
“Brooke wore it better,” another person wrote of the Calvin Klein ad.
