During November, the royal family upholds a rich tradition of honoring members of the military who died at war. Since 1921, the red poppy has served as a symbol of remembrance. This month, Kate Middleton and others will wear red poppy pins. According to the Royal British Legion, the beautiful countryside turned to mud during World War II, and vegetation suffered.

“There was a notable and striking exception to the bleakness – the bright red Flanders poppies. These resilient flowers flourished in the middle of so much chaos and destruction, growing in the thousands upon thousands,” the website reads.
Kate Middleton Proudly Wears Her Red Poppy Pin
During the month of November, Princess Kate and others will honor the military with service events, the biggest of which is the National Service of Remembrance on the second Sunday of the month. According to People, the royal family will gather for a service at the Cenotaph war memorial in Longs for two minutes of slice, laying of the poppy wreaths, and a ceremonial march past veterans.
While the princess eases herself back to her royal duties, she is expected to attend Remembrance Sunday this year. Kate Middleton has sported a red poppy pin on her lapel for years.
People reported Kate once gave her red poppy to a child named Akeen during a visit to Colham Manor Children’s Centre.
“My name is Catherine,” she told the boy. “Okay,” Akeem replied admiring Kate Middleton’s red poppy.
She asked him, “Do you know what this is for?” she asked as she took the pin off her coat. “It’s for remembering all the soldiers who died in the war. There you go — that’s for you.”
