Life changed dramatically for the royal family this year. Kate Middleton began the year with a planned surgery, but it quickly turned into a battle with cancer. While the palace never disclosed what kind of cancer the princess had, they did keep the public aware of her journey. Kate first announced she would undergo chemotherapy in March and retreated from her royal duties to focus on her health. Her father-in-law, King Charles, also faced a pancreatic cancer diagnosis and subsequent health journey. The year wasn’t easy for anyone, but they faxed adversity with grace and dignity in true royal fashion. In September, Kate Middleton announced she’d completed her cancer journey and hoped to return to a more normal life. She and William shared the joyful news on social media along with a happy video of their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

UK’s Channel 5 News shared a clip of Princess Kate talking to pop singer Paloma Faith about her cancer journey on X.
“I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had,” she said.
“The unplanned,” Paloma asked.
“The unplanned, exactly,” Kate affirmed. “But I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times.”
The conversation reflected the meaning of Together At Christmas, “This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult time of our lives. The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness, and empathy in others in their communities, whether on a personal level with friends and family, through their work, or as they selflessly give up their time through volunteering.”
