Each year, on January 27, people Worldwide recognizes Holocaust Memorial Day. The day held a special significance in 2025 as this year is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Thousands of Jewish prisoners were finally free from the horrors of life inside a concentration camp. It is a difficult part of history, but an important one to remember. Kate Middleton attended a ceremony commemorating the day and according to People, wore an important necklace to the celebration. In addition to Queen Elizabeth’s earrings and Princess Diana’s bracelet, Kate wore a stunning five-strand pearl necklace by Susan Caplan.

Kate Middleton Chose a Significant Necklace for The Day
Susan Caplan, a Jewish designer, felt honored that the princess had chosen her piece for the special day. Susan wrote on Instagram,
“Today marks 80 years since the Holocaust, and as a Jewish-owned brand we are honored that the Princess of Wales chose to wear our necklace for today’s memorial to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day.”
A follower shared, “Congratulations! The Princess of Wales is such a lovely and kind woman and she always wears something special as today. Very meaning.”
Another congratulated Susan on Kate Middleton choosing to wear her necklace, “We’re so proud to know this is our CEO’s mum’s brand worn on such a poignant day for the Jewish community.”
Prince William and Princess Kate shared their own message on Instagram about the celebration writing “A solemn moment of remembrance and hope for the future at today’s Holocaust Memorial Day service. Honored to take part in this important event to commemorate the lives lost in the Holocaust and other genocides.”
A fan wrote, “Thank you to the Princess of Wales for being present today even if she’s still recovering and recognizing the importance of this day. You can see how much she appreciated listening to the survivors of the Holocaust. They’re truly strong and inspiring.”
