Kensington Palace Speaks Out In Rare Statement Following Kate Middleton Backlash

Kensington Palace Backlash

There’s been quite a brouhaha in Great Britain recently over Kate Middleton’s clothing. Kensington Palace received significant backlash following an article in the Sunday Times titled” Princess of Wales: Focus on My Work Not My Wardrobe.” The article seemed to focus on the princess and how she feels about being a fashion icon, but that’s not quite the case.

A palace source told the Sunday Times, “There is an absolute feeling that it [the public work] is not about what the princess is wearing. She wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people, and the causes she is spotlighting. There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public, and she gets that. But do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there, but it’s about the substance.”

Kensington Palace Handled the Backlash With A Statement

Kensington Place provided a statement to People regarding the backlash. It reads, “Over the last week, I have received numerous questions about a story regarding The Princess of Wales’ clothing and how Kensington Palace shares information about her outfits. To clarify, the comments that appeared in the article were from me, not The Princess of Wales,” the statement continued. “The comments that were reported should not be directly attributed to The Princess of Wales. To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness’s clothing.”

Kensington Palace typically doesn’t respond to this type of backlash with an official statement as people will share opinions online, and it’s just too much to keep up with. But this time, apparently, the palace felt the need to clarify. Whether we get details about who designs Kate’s clothes or not, one thing is certain-she always dresses to impress.
