Time and time again, we’ve seen people go out of their way to improve the lives of their wheelchair-bound friends and loved ones. There were the parents of disabled sons who started a nonprofit to turn wheelchairs into intricate Halloween costumes for children. Then there was the varsity athlete who was paralyzed by a drunk driver who started a dance team for wheelchair-users. Now, a group of young men are stepping up to show love to their best friend, a man with muscular dystrophy named Kevan.

Kevan’s dream was to travel Europe, but– because of his disability– he didn’t think he’d be able to do it. That’s when his friends stepped in. They designed a special backpack for him, and carried him across France, Ireland, and England.
“Using a specially designed backpack, my friends carried me where I could otherwise never go. It was incredible!” writes Kevan on the We Carry Kevan website. “And now we want to make that possible for other disabled folks.”

Now the best friends dream of designing another backpack and equipment to help other disabled people pursue adventure.
“Everyone dreams of backpacking across Europe, but how many of us have actually considered being the backpack?” reads the description on the team’s Facebook page.
