Kevin Bacon

Even though celebrities often seem glamorous, that’s not always how their careers started. The road to success in Hollywood isn’t paved with gold for every star. Some of them start very small before making it big.

Kevin Bacon has starred in dozens of movies and TV shows since the 1970s and has had a successful music career. And while Kevin and his wife of nearly four decades, Kyra Sedgwick, look like they have it all, Kevin’s career started slow.

Kevin Bacon’s “Flop House” Roommate Was A Total Stranger

Kevin Bacon recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show and told the host he once lived in a “flop house” in New York. He found an ad in the Village Voice newspaper looking for roommates in the showbiz industry. He thought he’d take a chance and went to the rental office.

After arriving, the apartment manager told him the rent would be $325, but Kevin said that was too steep without a roommate. So the apartment manager said, “What about this guy?” referring to a man sitting on the couch. Kevin and the other man, a musician, agreed that it sounded okay and moved in together.

“We lived together for four years,” Kevin admitted before sharing that they are still friends today.

“In fact, I just had lunch with him the other day,” he added.

Kelly had a similar story. She said she moved to Los Angeles from Texas with someone she barely knew, but she needed a roommate.

Kelly’s story didn’t end the same. Her roommate situation didn’t last quite as long, but she told Kevin she “tried out for a show called American Idol. So it all worked out.”

This person loved the story and wrote on Instagram, “I find those with humble beginnings are real people first and actors/musicians second, and they do both beautifully.”
