After one Florida teacher noticed her pupils seemed to destroy their glue sticks after one day, she decided to have them all pledge to preserve those precious art supplies for a change. The resulting video has now been viewed over three million times on Facebook, and it seems to resonate with every parent and teacher who sees it.

In a video called “The Gluestick Pledge,” Emerald stands before her class of adorable five and six-year-olds and leads them in a rather non-traditional pledge that has everyone cracking up.

“This is my glue stick,” Emerald says as she holds up a stick. The children obediently chant the words back to her.

“I am going to be responsible,” she continues. “I am not going to eat it.”

It seems that she’s seen this sort of thing happen once or twice, doesn’t it? She goes on with, “I am not going to twist it all the way up. And scribble on the paper.”

“I only need a little bit.”

“And I’m gonna use circular motions.”

The kids stumble over this step, because what exactly does “circular motions” mean? Emerald cheerfully demonstrates the correct way to use the coveted glue sticks, and the kids seem to be right on board with her plan to conserve their supplies.

Emerald’s adorable video reminds every parent and teacher who has ever doled out glue sticks only to receive a hollow nub of plastic back in return that they’re not alone! The video’s comment section is filled with supportive people who love Emerald’s “gluestick pledge.”

Although many people doubted that the pledge would work, Emerald insists that 48 hours later, all glue sticks were still intact!
